Food & Agriculture

How did this come to our attention?

Food security is a cornerstone of our mission to build sustainable and resilient communities. MPDO’s Food & Agriculture Program supports sustainable food systems that ensure access to nutritious food for all while protecting the environment and supporting local economies.

Ensuring Food Security:

We work to ensure that all people, especially those in vulnerable situations, have reliable access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. This involves emergency food assistance, school feeding programs, and initiatives that support the most food-insecure populations.

Promoting Sustainable Agriculture:

We are committed to promoting agricultural practices that are environmentally sustainable and economically viable. Our programs include training farmers in sustainable farming techniques, providing access to seeds and tools, and supporting agroecological practices that enhance soil health, conserve water, and increase biodiversity.

Supporting Local Economies:

By focusing on local food systems, we help to strengthen rural economies and improve livelihoods. We support smallholder farmers, women, and youth by providing them with the resources and knowledge they need to increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and access markets. This not only boosts food production but also contributes to economic growth and poverty reduction.
